As we wrap up National Bicycle Safety Month, we’re highlighting the many shared-use trails throughout Lexington, KY that Palmer Engineering is proud to have helped bring to life.

Shared-use trails create safer spaces away from traffic for people to walk, bike, and explore — while improving connectivity across our communities.

Big congratulations to Jacob Hudepohl, a U of Cincinnati Engineering and Applied Science student and intern at Palmer’s Cincinnati office! 👏

Jacob recently received a scholarship from The Builders Exchange of Central Ohio and enjoyed attending the scholarship reception last week. He also earned the William D. Lockwood Scholarship through the University of Cincinnati, along with a West Central Ohio AGC Scholarship this semester.

We’re proud of all of his hard work and excited to see what’s ahead for him. Congrats, Jacob!

Congratulations to Matthew Erickson on his recent graduation from the U of Cincinnati Engineering and Applied Science! 🎓

Matthew also recently passed the FE Exam and will continue with the structures team in our Northern Kentucky office. During his internship, one of Matthew’s favorite parts was getting experience in several areas of structural engineering — from bridge inspections to bridge design.

We’re proud of all Matthew has accomplished and excited to see him continue to grow with the Palmer team! 👏

Congratulations to Grayson Maddox, an intern in Palmer’s West Virginia office, on receiving a scholarship from the American Society of Highway Engineers – North Central West Virginia (ASHE-NCWV)!

Grayson, a student at Marshall University College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, is pictured with Donald Williams, PE, President of ASHE-NCWV, and Steven Todd Rumbaugh, PE, Secretary of the WVDOT and Commissioner of the WVDOH.

Congratulations to Zach Price on his graduation from George Rogers Clark High School! 🎓

During his time at Palmer, Zach shared that he’s especially proud of the knowledge he has gained in the civil engineering field and the experience that will help him throughout college and beyond.

This fall, Zach will be attending the University of Kentucky to major in civil engineering. We’re excited to celebrate this accomplishment and all that’s ahead for him! 👏

As we approach Memorial Day, we’re reminded of the lasting impact of those who have served—and the legacies they leave behind.

This story from the spring 2026 issue of the "Kentucky Engineering Journal" highlights the life of Jeffrey Graham and the “Eternal Optimist” scholarship created in his honor at UK, continuing to support future engineers.

We’re also proud to see Palmer’s Lee Carlisle mentioned in the article for his role in helping establish the scholarship. As Lee shared, “By investing in the education of engineering students through scholarships, we donors are investing in the future of our profession.”

A meaningful reminder of service, sacrifice, and investing in the next generation.

First up is Luke Bertsch! Luke attends the University of Kentucky Pigman College of Engineering
