They say you can’t see, smell or taste Radon and they are correct! However, this is the closest you’ll probably ever get to being able to see Radon and how it enters your home. What you are seeing in these two images is staining from moisture, dust, spiderwebs, etc. from the excessive positive pressure being drawn into the home from the transition at the foundation wall to the basement floor slab. This house is literally sucking Radon in from below. The level in this home was around 95 pCi/L where the recommendation for long-term living is below 2.6. The majority of radon mitigation systems, including the one that is being installed in this home work too de-pressurize the basement floor slab to remove the radon before it is pulled into the home! Give us a call if you see this in your basement!
