Just the other day I was discussing this same issue. Larger homes can be a solution but we are now discussing duplexes and farms. Homesteading and homeschooling have seem to gain traction.

The traditional retirement downsizing payoff is shrinking as home prices, capital gains taxes, and elevated mortgage rates eat into equity, pushing some retirees to buy bigger homes with their adult children instead.
