🍂 Tip Tuesday: Fall Home Maintenance You Probably Forgot About 🏡
Everyone talks about cleaning the gutters and checking the furnace, but here are a few things you might not think to do before winter:
1️⃣ Vacuum out your dryer vent, not just the lint trap. It’s one of the easiest ways to prevent fires and keep things running safely.
2️⃣ Reverse your ceiling fans so they spin clockwise — it helps push warm air down and makes your home feel cozier.
3️⃣ Give your door hinges and window tracks a quick spray of lubricant so they don’t stick once the cold sets in.
4️⃣ Flush your hot water heater to clear out any sediment. It helps it run more efficiently and last longer.
5️⃣ Test your GFCI outlets by pressing “test” and “reset.” It takes seconds and keeps your home safe.
6️⃣ Seal up small gaps around pipes, vents, and your foundation. You’d be surprised how tiny of an opening mice can squeeze through.
7️⃣ Clean your fridge coils to help it run smoother and use less energy.
8️⃣ Take a peek at your attic insulation to make sure you’re not losing heat once temps drop.
A few quick fixes now can save you a lot of stress (and money) later in the season.
