A Little Story Time — For Dolly ❤️
Over the weekend at the Realities for Children Ride & Rally, I came across this sign, and I had to stop and read it:
“You’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try.” — Dolly
A Little Story Time — For Dolly ❤️
Yesterday at the 25th Annual Realities for Children Ride & Rally, I came across this little handwritten sign:
“You’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try.” — Dolly
I probably could’ve walked right past it.
But knowing why we were all there, I couldn’t.
I heard people talking yesterday about those early days—how the first ride was just a small group of people who showed up because they believed children who had experienced abuse and neglect deserved someone willing to stand up for them.
Someone had to be brave enough to try.
And yesterday, 25 years later, I looked around at all the motorcycles, volunteers, businesses, families and people who came together for those same kids.
That’s what got me about Dolly’s sign.
Big things don’t always start big.
Sometimes they start with one person deciding something needs to change. Then a few more people believe in it. Then a few more show up.
And eventually, something that started small becomes a community that’s been fighting for children for 25 years.
The motorcycles are what brought a lot of us together yesterday.
But the children are why we were there.
So, Dolly, I saw your sign. ❤️
And after seeing what 25 years of people showing up for these kids has become, I’d say you were absolutely right:
“You’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try.”
