Snow? In the desert?? It’s not as impossible as you might think.

Deserts are not defined by temperature, but by precipitation, specifically under 10” (25cm) in a year. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area gets around 4” (10cm) annually, so we are definitely a desert. Thanks to our higher elevation and mountains, some of those few inches will come down as snow.

While the snow might not stick every year, there should be a beautiful sprinkling on our mountains on blustery days.
