If higher interest rates are causing you to pause on your home purchase, I wanted to let you know about a new product that some lenders are offering to ease the pain. It’s called a 2-1 buydown.

With a less frenzied market, some sellers are agreeable to ‘buying down’ the buyer’s interest rate for the first 2 years of a loan, making a 7% rate 5%. This is often times in lieu of discounting the sale price, and considerably more beneficial.

Since the clear majority of housing experts are estimating that interest rates should be back down to 5% by the end of 2023, this program provides for a more affordable housing payment until you can refi at a lower rate. Some have coined it: marrying the house and dating the interest rate 😉
