Ready to transition from holiday to winter home decor?

After Christmas has passed and the decorations are all down, you may feel like you’re in no man’s land in terms of your current home decor. Spring is full of flowers and greenery, summer brings more vibrant colors, fall has warmth and coziness and then of course we have the grandeur of Christmas.

But then what? Decorating your home in January may seem like it’s not a “thing” but in fact, transitioning from what you already had out for Christmas into a cozy, inviting style for winter is very easy to do!

Our tips:

✔️ Ditch the holiday red and green
✔️ Bring in natural elements
✔️ Add cozy layers with pillows and blankets
✔️ Keep the greenery and white lights and enjoy those pared down decorations a little longer

With freezing temps on the way, it’s time to prep your home to prevent frozen water pipes. Help prevent those by:

Draining exterior water lines to prevent pressure from building up;

Insulating water pipes in unheated exterior walls, the basements or a crawl space;

Using sleeve-type insulation to help keep interior pipes above 20 F;

Keeping faucets open, even just a trickle, whenever temperatures are close to freezing;

Opening cabinet doors in kitchen and bath to allow heat from the house to reach the pipes;

Using space heaters for uninsulated areas or during extreme cold snaps. If possible, close room doors after unplugging a space heater to keep areas warm longer.

Stay safe and warm! 🥶
