Big park news coming to Forsyth County! 🐴 A new 200-acre park is being built off Doral Drive, north of Tobaccoville. It's planned to include a covered arena, horse trails, stables, walking trails, a playground, and a shelter, plus a new home for the Cooperative Extension Service.

Well kinda perfect for anyone who loves wide-open space! It's set to open in early 2027, so it's one to put on your calendar.

Good news for Greensboro families! 🎣 The city's lakes and recreation centers are open longer again. Lake Brandt, Lake Higgins, and Lake Townsend are on expanded daily hours, and all 10 rec centers are now open 9 to 8 on weekdays (with a midday break from noon to 2).

Well kinda a big deal when you think about it! The city said residents asked for more access and more programming, and they listened. There's even a new way for neighbors to propose programs they'd like to see at the rec centers.

The Parks and Recreation Department will restore operating hours at the City's lakes and recreation centers starting in September. The restoration of hours results from feedback requesting more access and programming opportunities.

“How are people buying houses with rates like this?”

They’re getting creative. 👀

The buyers I’m seeing aren’t necessarily waiting around for the perfect interest rate. They’re looking at all the ways to make the numbers work.

They’re checking credit unions instead of assuming the first rate they’re quoted is the best one.

They’re looking at new construction, where builders may have serious money to put toward rate buy-downs, closing costs, or other incentives.

They’re negotiating seller-paid closing costs and using those funds strategically to buy down their rate.

And sometimes? They’re buying because life doesn’t wait for the housing market to be perfect. New job. New baby. Relocation. Divorce. Downsizing. They need a house.

A 7% headline doesn’t necessarily mean your rate is 7% — and it definitely doesn’t tell you what your actual monthly payment options could look like.

If you’re thinking about buying in the Triad but the interest-rate conversation has scared you off, talk to a lender and a Realtor before you count yourself out.
