Winston Factory Lofts Our Community consists of two buildings, both originally built as Hanes Knitting factories in the Originally built in 1920 by the P. H.

Hanes Company for textile manufacturing, we converted these majestic industrial buildings into 171 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes. Construction involved all new mechanical and fire alarm systems; roof, skylight and window replacement; restoration of the façade; new main entrance foyer accessing a new lobby and lounge. We introduced contemporary architectural features throughout while

preserving the attractive historic character of the buildings. Our design has more amenities than any other downtown apartment community and more than virtually all of the condo projects in Winston-Salem. The highlights include:

We’re located just steps from the Arts District and you’ll be able to walk to plenty of restaurants, night life, and art galleries. Meet Søren, the Property Manager at Winston Factory Lofts and 50 West Fourth Residences! Søren began her journey here in 2020 as a leasing consultant, became assistant property manager in 2022, and recently stepped into her new role. Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, she moved to Winston-Salem in 2015 to study the History of Art at Salem College, graduating in 2019. Søren’s love of art and historic buildings is deeply connected to downtown Winston-Salem, and she considers WFL & 50W her "home away from home." Her actual home is in the historic Ardmore neighborhood, built in 1928—the same year WFL Phase 2 was built! Søren shares her home with her partner and their two dogs, Pajamas the golden retriever and Luke the mini Australian shepherd. She enjoys plants, traveling, movies, game nights, and all things related to making a house a home. Always happy to help, Søren looks forward to making WFL & 50W a place you’ll be proud to call home!

Congratulations to Harley for being chosen as our June pet of the month! Here are a few words about Harley from his family:

Harley Barkley, born in 2013, is most likely a Gemini—curious, social, and always ready to charm a new friend. Named after the legendary Harley Davidson motorcycle, he got his start in Alabama before making his way home thanks to a family member who met him at a local adoption event. While many try to label him as a doodle or even a Wheaton, a dog DNA test has officially confirmed otherwise—Harley is one of a kind, and he prefers to keep it that way.

In his younger days, Harley was an enthusiastic excavator, tirelessly working on what can only be assumed was a very important underground project. These days, he’s traded excavation for relaxation, enjoying shady strolls through the gardens and staying cool in the comfort of the AC. He’s never met a stranger, happily greeting everyone and always ready to collect a few extra pets along the way.

“Kong is life” is a motto Harley fully stands behind—a treat-filled Kong is his ultimate happiness. When he gets especially excited, he celebrates with a series of enthusiastic sneezes, adding to his already unforgettable personality. According to a pet medium, Harley would also like it known that being ignored by passersby is deeply offensive—he will, however, graciously accept a simple “hi” or respectful eye contact as proper tribute. He loves meeting new dog pals and making instant connections wherever he goes. Equal parts sweet, curious, and just a little goofy, Harley brings a whole lot of heart (and entertainment) to every day.
