Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Janet, our Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator!
Janet helps connect Family Promise Greater Orlando with the incredible people and organizations who support our mission. From working with community volunteers, churches, and corporate and civic partners to assisting with special events and volunteer initiatives, Janet helps bring people together to serve families in our Shelter Program.

But what keeps her motivated?

“This work matters to me because I get the opportunity to make kids feel better.”

For Janet, seeing tears turn into smiles reminds her why she does this work. She believes every child deserves the opportunity to be innocent and carefree, and if she can help make that possible even just a little bit she’ll keep doing it. 💙

On August 27, we welcomed families from our Shelter and Stabilization programs to our latest Community Learning Lab, where the focus was on financial education and building a brighter financial future.

Families shared a meal together before parents participated in an informative session led by Regions Bank's Next Step program, which provided practical guidance on budgeting, financial literacy, and long-term financial success. Meanwhile, children enjoyed hands-on activities focused on numbers, budgeting, and money management concepts.

Through our Community Learning Lab series, we strive to equip families with practical skills and resources while fostering connection, learning, and community-building.

Community Collaboration Shoutout 💚

A huge thank you to Progressive for helping launch an exciting new collaboration with Family Promise through a targeted events program designed to support the families we serve.

Their first event was a quarterly birthday celebration for families in our programs, bringing everyone together for an evening of food, music, games, dancing, and fun. The event created meaningful opportunities for connection while making our families feel celebrated and supported.

We are grateful for the Progressive team’s energy, kindness, and commitment to learning more about our mission and the families we serve. We look forward to many more opportunities to work together.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who recently spent time at our Resource Center helping with a clean-up and organization project, including the dedicated Pathway of Promise student volunteers from Winter Park High School.

Their hard work helped prepare our spaces for some exciting refreshes that are coming soon, and we can't wait to share them with you!

A huge thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Orlando and the Kiwanis Club of Orlando Foundation for helping us welcome a new 2025 Chrysler Pacifica to the Family Promise fleet!

This vehicle will help us better serve families across our community by supporting transportation needs, shelter operations, moving assistance, and more.

As the second vehicle in our fleet, this generous investment will help us remove barriers and create opportunities for the families we serve every day.

What a day! 🎒💚

On July 25, nearly 500 community members came together for our Back to School Bash, helping over 120 families and nearly 300 students start the school year prepared and confident.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was hearing from two Family Promise families who shared what this support means to them and how community has helped them navigate challenging seasons.

We're especially grateful to Calvary Orlando for hosting the event, providing lunch for attendees, and helping create a fun and welcoming environment for families.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, partnered, and showed up to make this event such a success.
