One of the things we love most about Winter Park,FL is that it values its history.

We recently attended a historic preservation meeting where city leaders discussed ways to protect homes that are more than 50 years old and preserve the character that makes Winter Park so unique.

One of the most interesting topics was the idea of historic designation. In many cases, homeowners can modernize and completely update the interior of a home while preserving the exterior features that contribute to the home’s historic character and the story of the neighborhood.

The conversation wasn’t just about old houses—it was about balancing progress with preservation and making sure future generations can still experience the charm and architecture that make Winter Park special.

As someone who spends a lot of time exploring neighborhoods and helping people put down roots here, it was fascinating to learn more about the efforts happening behind the scenes to protect the character of our community.
