Could buying before January 1, 2027 save you thousands?

I analyzed the property tax bill for one of my listings in Tavares, FL.

Current property tax: Over $6,000/year
About half of that comes from non-school property taxes.

If the proposed Florida property tax amendment passes and is implemented as currently proposed:

✅ Estimated savings in 2027: $900–$1,000
✅ Estimated savings in 2028: $1,900–$2,000

That’s approximately $2,800 in potential savings during the first two years for a qualifying buyer.

One important detail: if the amendment passes and the final law follows the proposed timeline, buyers may need to own the home before January 1, 2027 to benefit in the first year.
