What a wonderful day in DeLand! We spent the morning exploring the Museum of Art- Deland where the ceramic exhibit was a favorite for many of us. The artwork was powerful and inspiring there was plenty to see throughout. Afterward, we enjoyed the gift shop and strolling through historic downtown Deland popping into local boutiques, record shops and other unique stores along the historic streets. One thing everyone noticed was how walkable, clean and welcoming the area felt. The murals throughout downtown added so much character. We enjoyed lunch at a charming local restaurant which was a perfect break in the day. Before heading home we took a scenic drive through Stetson University. The campus is absolutely beautiful and we can't wait to be back to the Stetson Mansion for Christmas! of course no outing is complete without sweet treat so we made one last stop at Rodeo Whip for ice cream. With perfect weather and great company, it was a day well spent.

We are also grateful for all veterans who continue to inspire us with their strength and dedication. This week, our residents created beautiful silk flower arrangements in honor of Mother’s Day, and every arrangement turned out as unique, creative, and lovely as the hands that made them. Motherhood comes in many forms, and this time of year reminds us to celebrate the love, care and wisdom mothers bring into the world. It was so special watching everyone socialize, laugh, share ideas, and help one another create something meaningful.

Studies continue to show that staying socially engaged and mentally active can help support cognitive health and reduce feelings of isolation as we age. That’s one of the many reasons we are proud to offer a wide variety of curated activities here at The Savoy giving our residents opportunities to connect, create, learn, and enjoy life together every day.
