Sanford: Seminole Towne Center's old Macy's is becoming a 156,000 sq ft Costco — the largest in Central Florida. Demolition crews broke ground this month.
Oviedo: The mall just locked in ~700 apartments across two phases. But here's the real headline — the development director says apartments are just step one. He wants to bring a major employer into the empty Sears building next: 300–400 jobs, ideally tech. His words: Oviedo has been a bedroom community with no local jobs, and that needs to change.
What this means near-term: nothing shifts overnight — both projects are 1.5+ years out. But this is exactly the kind of shift worth watching before it shows up in home values.
