HISTORY
Winters Friends of the Library was first formed in response to the temporary closing of our local branch of the Yolo County Library after the passage of Proposition 13 in 1979. A group of concerned citizens understood the importance of a library to the education and well-being of a small rural community and decided to do something about it. The group raised funds and advocated for the continued operation of a Yolo County Library branch here in Winters. As the community grew, the group responded to the need for library support and lifelong learning opportunities. Winters Friends of the Library incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1985. WFoL members worked for over ten years to advocate and raise funds for a much-needed new library and increases in library hours and services. Our beautiful Winters Community Library opened in November 2009. We celebrated our “new library’s” tenth anniversary in 2019 and continue to adapt, innovate, and grow to strengthen the our library and community. Join us for an author talk with Jessica Guerrieri!

📅 Thursday, June 11, 2026
📍708 Railroad Ave, Winters

Jessica Guerrieri’s prize-winning debut novel was Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2025). With over a decade of sobriety, she is a fierce advocate for addiction recovery.

She will speak and read from her new novel, Both Can Be True, a beautifully written story of love, redemption, and resilience. Guerrieri explores the many ways women vanish inside motherhood, addiction, marriage, and shame, and what it takes to survive, and to thrive.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. The event is free, but donations to support the library are always welcome.
