This is a bit outside of our coverage area, but I’m sharing it here for two reasons…
1st - the seller is a childhood friend - we went to church together waaaay back in the day.
2nd - it’s a historic SEARS CATALOG home!!! I have a particular soft spot for these. I’ve run into a couple of these in my time as an agent, over in the Okanogan Highlands. And, well, I guess they make me feel nostalgic for times that were in the rear-view mirror before I existed.
In a different life or on a different path than the one I am living I can imagine stepping into the role of steward and caretaker for one of these homes purchased out of a paper magazine generations ago.

Fun Real Estate Fact you won’t get anywhere else: last night there were approximately 60 million birds in the sky over the southern part of North America, migrating north to claim their real estate for the 2026 breeding season. During peak migration that number approaches 1 BILLION. Competition for bird-home sized vacant land is fierce! Instead of bidding wars it all comes down to who is the best singer…. and sometimes of course they fight. Here is a video of Meadowlarks singing in the Methow Valley this morning while I was out looking at human-scale real estate!

It doesn’t take much to make Emily happy. Just give her a listing to run around on with lots of rocks on it! 65 degrees today in the Pateros Boulder Field along the Columbia. Refreshing winter-weary signs and corner flagging and hanging out with big rocks and tiny spring flowers. Check out this cool video from Cascade PBS about the geologic history of the Pateros boulders and the Great Terrace… it makes us love this place even more!!

PSA: if you are considering selling property this spring or even early summer, now is the time to be talking to your favorite real estate agent! We really hope that’s us of course, but at least talk to SOMEONE about it right now! Can we get a listing ready in a couple of weeks? Usually. Is the presentation as good when it’s rushed? Of course not.
Plus we always want a buffer for dealing with the unexpected…. like the time I had to track down three estranged siblings who were the heirs of a previous owner who passed away 20+ years ago but was never removed from the title…. and get them to agree to all sign a release of interest.
So don’t wait until it’s time to put your house on the market to call us!

It’s great to see creative approaches and opportunity for senior and community living coming to Twisp. Though a relatively small project compared to need, and it’s not clear how accessible this particular project will be, the more options and models for what is possible, the better.
