🏠 HOMEOWNERS: This Is Your Wake-Up Call. 🚨
The NY Post just dropped a disturbing deep-dive into the "Long Island Deed Scammer" — and if you own property in the New York area, you need to read it.
Deed theft is no longer a rare crime. Criminals use forged deeds and falsified documents to steal homes — then sell the property for massive profit, leaving the true owners with nothing. (New York State Attorney General) Scammers either forge signatures outright or trick homeowners into unknowingly signing paperwork that transfers the deed.

The victims? Anyone can fall prey to deed fraud, but seniors, immigrants, and people of color are most at risk. (City of New York)
Here's how to protect yourself RIGHT NOW:
✅ Check your property's deed at least once a year to make sure no deeds or mortgages have been recorded on your property without your consent. (City of New York)
✅ Nassau County offers a free "Property Fraud Alert" service — an electronic notification that emails you any time a land record document (deed, mortgage, lien, etc.) is recorded on your home. Suffolk County has a similar program called the Home Owner Watch List (HOWL).
✅ Be wary of anyone who pressures you to sign over your deed or any paperwork you haven't had a chance to read and fully understand.
✅ If you suspect deed theft has already occurred, contact the NY Attorney General immediately at 1-800-771-7755 or [email protected]. (HomeownerHelpNY)
