Thinking about moving to Minnesota? Before you start scrolling through listings, there are a few things you’ll want to figure out first.

Where do you want to live? Minneapolis, the western suburbs, Woodbury, Stillwater, Lakeville, and the surrounding communities all offer a very different lifestyle and price point.

What does your budget actually look like? Don’t just look at the list price. Property taxes, homeowners insurance, utilities, and potential HOA fees can all affect what a home costs you month to month.

What are your priorities? Commute, schools, outdoor space, neighborhood amenities, access to the city, and future resale value are all worth considering before choosing an area.

And yes, you’ll want to be prepared for Minnesota winters. But you’ll also get four distinct seasons, plenty of lakes and trails, and a lot of great communities to choose from.
