For the 2026 tax year (taxes filed in early 2027), homeowner tax deductions have been significantly updated by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) passed in July 2025.

Key changes include a massive increase in the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap, the permanent restoration of private mortgage insurance (PMI) deductions, and higher standard deductions.
