Realtor perk: getting to show the house you grew up in.

I had the opportunity to show my childhood home today, and of course I had to sit on these steps and recreate a face I’m pretty sure my family saw often. 😝

These steps saw many time-outs — mine and probably half the kids my mom babysat over the years.

They’re also where we’d hide at the top with the remote, secretly change the channel, and watch Dad try to figure out what was happening. And then there were the times we put Pledge at the bottom of the steps just to watch him come down in his socks… Sorry, Dad. 😬

It’s funny how you can walk into a house years later and suddenly remember a hundred little things you’d completely forgotten.

Definitely not an ordinary day of showings. But I hope the next family has just as many great memories

Wayne County homeowners and business owners, this is worth a few minutes of your time.

Property taxes have been a major topic of conversation lately, and I think it's important that more people understand how they actually work.

I spend a lot of time on county auditor websites, and I was glad to find this resource from the Wayne County Auditor. It explains how your property is valued, how your taxes are calculated, and why reappraisals are done.

While you're there, look up your own tax parcel. You can see exactly where your property tax dollars go, including funding for schools, police, fire departments, townships, and other local services.
