One of the first newsletters for Winding River Plantation (volume 3!). Hard to believe this community is nearly 3 decades old and yes, I was just a baby when I worked there.

Wilmington Trivia 🇺🇸

Did you know Wilmington is home to North Carolina’s only Statue of Liberty replica?

The statue was placed here in 1951 as part of the Boy Scouts of America’s “Strengthen the Arm of Liberty” campaign, which brought replicas of Lady Liberty to communities across the country.

And this year is especially meaningful: 2026 marks the 140th anniversary of the dedication of the original Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, dedicated on October 28, 1886.

🏌️ Could another golf course be coming to Leland?

As someone who has watched the Leland area grow for decades, I’m always interested in seeing what’s next.

Developers of the East Lake project are seeking to rezone more than 2,000 acres, with plans that include nearly 4,000 homes, commercial space and a proposed 18-hole championship golf course.

From a real estate perspective, amenities like golf, recreation and nearby shopping can play a big role in attracting buyers who are looking for more than just a home—they’re looking for a lifestyle.

There are still approvals ahead, but this is definitely a project worth watching as Leland continues to grow.

One of the best parts of being in real estate for more than 30 years is the relationships that grow along the way. I’ve had the privilege of helping this client negotiate the purchase of two homes over the years, as well as helping members of his family find homes of their own.

But what I value most is the friendship we’ve built along the way. Relationships like this are what make a long career in real estate so rewarding.
