🐜 Monthly Home Maintenance Series: JUNE - PEST PROOFING 🐜

Each month, I share a simple, seasonal home maintenance checklist with the top things homeowners should focus on to keep their homes safe, efficient, and in great shape year-round. These monthly tips help you stay ahead of repairs and protect your investment—one month at a time.

Here’s what to focus on this June:

✔️ Seal entry points around your home by checking gaps near doors, windows, garage edges, utility lines, and foundation openings. Even small cracks can be a welcome mat for ants, mice, and other pests—caulk or seal where needed.

✔️ Repair or replace torn window and door screens so you can enjoy fresh air without inviting bugs inside. Don’t forget sliding doors and basement windows.

✔️ Trim landscaping away from the house (branches, shrubs, and ground cover). Keeping plants off siding and away from the foundation helps reduce pest access and moisture buildup.

Your Quick “To-Dos”:

🔦 Check outdoor lighting (replace burnt-out bulbs) to reduce dark “hangout spots” for insects and improve visibility.

🚪 Add/replace a door sweep on any exterior door with daylight showing underneath.

🧹 Sweep away leaves and debris around the foundation, patio edges, and deck—pests love hiding spots.

🚿 Check exterior spigots and hose connections for drips (standing water attracts pests).

🗑️ Rinse and secure outdoor trash/recycling bins to reduce odors that attract rodents and insects.
