25 years ago, we stood stunned in front of our TV screen as we watched the World Trade Towers crumble into a pile of dust. Our sadness and disbelief was compounded beyond many because just 5 years earlier, in June 1996, we had stood at the top of those tall and majestic buildings on our visit to NYC. How was it possible that such large structures with the thousands of people in them be gone in an instant! 

Today we remember those who died that day along with their families whose loved ones would never come home again, plus the heroic first responders who didn't pause but rushed in to help the survivors but in turn ended up with lifelong trauma and/or illness as a result of that day. 

But… I also remember something positive, how our country, if just for a short while, became united in our grief! 

25 years is a long time ago but this morning it feels like just a moment ago! 😔
