Today, September 27, is Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day. A solemn day to honor the mothers and families who have lost a son or daughter in military service.

As an Army wife and Army mom, this day carries weight in our home. My Military Relocation Professional certification has deepened my respect for the sacrifices made by service members and the families who stand behind them, but I do not take their experience for granted.

Established through Senate Joint Resolution 115 in 1936, this observance reminds us that remembrance is more than a single day. Say their names. Check on Gold Star families. Listen, honor, and remember that sacrifice continues long after a service member is gone.

Today is a day for gratitude and quiet recognition, not a sales message. No listing, no price, no property talk. Just a respectful moment to remember and honor those who gave everything, and the families who continue to carry their loss.

🦐🚤 OCTOBER IS NATIONAL SEAFOOD MONTH! 🌊

In Yankeetown and Inglis, the waterfront isn’t just something we look at. It’s something we live alongside.

🦐 Commercial shrimp boats and vessels move through the channel daily, passing navigation marker 40A and carrying forward a local sh*****ng heritage that still helps put seafood on local tables.

⚓ When the boats are running and seafood is in season, you may be able to buy fresh seafood off the boats. A true taste of our working waterfront. And for a local dining favorite, Brooks Dockside Seafood is right here in Yankeetown/Inglis.

This is not a postcard version of waterfront living. It’s a genuine, living working waterfront, and that character is part of what makes this stretch of the Nature Coast different from anywhere else in Florida.

Buying a home on the river here means enjoying the scenery, the boating lifestyle and the heritage of a community shaped by the water. It’s part of the charm, and part of the value.

If you’ve been thinking about waterfront living on the Nature Coast, call or text me at 352-405-1314. I live and work in the Yankeetown/Inglis area and specialize in waterfront, farm and commercial property.

We’re grateful for a historically quiet 2026 Atlantic hurricane season so far, but we’re not letting a calm stretch create complacency. 🌤️

As of September 22, six named storms have formed, and none have reached hurricane strength. The latest start to a season without a hurricane since 1914.

Hurricane season continues through November 30, and the best time to review your storm readiness and flood insurance is while the weather is calm:

✅ Review flood and wind insurance limits, deductibles, and waiting periods now, not during a storm.
✅ Confirm your property’s flood zone and elevation information.
✅ Check your seawall, dock lines, and drainage while conditions are good.

I live and work in the Yankeetown/Inglis area and bring firsthand local perspective as a former flood liaison, councilwoman, Army wife and mom. I specialize in waterfront, farm, and commercial property, and believe informed decisions start with transparent conversations about property history, flood risk, and preparedness.

We’ve been fortunate so far. Let’s stay grateful, stay informed, and stay prepared. Have questions about a waterfront property? Call or text me at 352-405-1314.

📍 LEVY COUNTY LAND UPDATE: ORDINANCE 2026-05

Levy County’s Board of County Commissioners approved Ordinance 2026-05 on September 8, 2026. Here’s the plain-language overview for land owners, buyers and sellers.

WHAT IT DOES:
✅ Places a temporary moratorium on the submission, processing and approval of applications for data centers and other large-load facilities in UNINCORPORATED Levy County.
✅ Takes effect October 1, 2026, or upon filing with the Florida Department of State. Whichever occurs later.
✅ Runs through September 30, 2027, giving the county time to develop permanent land-use regulations.

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO:
• It does not change your property’s existing zoning.
• It does not affect properties that already have approvals.
• It does not apply inside incorporated municipalities.

BEFORE BUYING, SELLING OR PLANNING:
🔎 Confirm whether the property is unincorporated or inside a municipality.
🔎 Check the current zoning, future land-use designation and permitted uses.
🔎 Ask about any pending applications and available utility capacity.
🔎 Contact the Levy County Planning Department for property-specific guidance.

Land-use questions can be parcel-specific, so verify the details before making a decision.

I’ve lived and worked in the Yankeetown/Inglis area as a former councilwoman and flood liaison, small business owner, and real estate professional specializing in waterfront, farm and commercial property. I’m happy to help you identify the right questions and connect you with the appropriate county resources.
