Are you seeing a lot of ads for 1 day bathroom conversions to walk in showers? My neighbor wanted to do this so he contacted 2 of the more prominent advertisers. The prices he got were $15K and $17K just to convert the tub to a walk in shower! They of course offered financing options and offered discounts depending on the phase of the moon. I then gave him the name of a local tile craftsman who is going to do the same job for about $6K. And it will be real tile instead of synthetic panels. This craftsman just completed tile work for me and did a great job.
I don't know if all these companies are like these 2 who were complete scams preying on old or otherwise naive customers. Do yourself a favor and seek out local craftspeople to do this work. Get recommendations from your realtor or tile store.

Unlike previous cycles, prices have never reached such stratospheric heights so this “corrective collapse” has been catastrophic to the resellers who have to answer to customers demanding to see immediate price relief, and suppliers need to react.
