Rest In Peace Dolly!

One of the World's true icons of stage, screen, and especially of humanity. Her generosity of her time, money, and spirit made a big difference for the better for countless people.

PRESIDENT TRUMP ORDERS FLAGS LOWERED TO HALF-STAFF IN HONOR OF DOLLY PARTON

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump has ordered American flags across the United States to be lowered to half-staff for one week in honor of country music legend Dolly Parton, who died Tuesday at the age of 80.

Trump announced that flags will be lowered beginning at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, paying tribute to an entertainer and philanthropist whose influence stretched far beyond country music.

The President described Parton’s death as a tremendous loss for millions of people and praised her as a truly one-of-a-kind American icon.

Parton died peacefully Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee. Her death prompted an immediate outpouring of tributes from musicians, entertainers, public officials and millions of fans who grew up listening to her music.

Born in rural Tennessee in 1946, Parton rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world. Her legendary career spanned nearly six decades and produced classics including “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.”

Her impact, however, extended far beyond the stage.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she helped put hundreds of millions of books into the hands of children. Her charitable work, support for education and literacy, and generosity throughout her life became as much a part of her legacy as her music.

The decision to lower American flags nationwide represents a significant tribute to a woman who never held public office but became deeply woven into American culture.

For the next week, flags lowered across the country will serve as a visible reminder of the impact Dolly Parton left on generations of Americans.

Dolly Parton was 80 years old.
