Moving to the Hill Country? Here’s what you really need to know:
Best Brunch - Wildflour Artisan Bakery & Grill
It’s so delicious and consistent and I love to eat there whenever I’m in Canyon Lake.
Best Steak - Tejas Rodeo Company
Come for the steaks (burgers are amazing too) and stay for the rodeo and live music.
Best BBQ - Old 300 BBQ
You won’t find more genuine Texas BBQ than this. Bring some friends, order a whole spread & sample everything.
Fun Date Spot - Spring Creek Gardens
Visit the chickens and the fairy garden, stop & smell the roses, and enjoy an upscale dinner on site at The Desert Spoon. So good!
Best Pizza - Community Pizza & Beer Garden
It’s family friendly, with room for the kids to play, and that Illuminati pizza… my word. Insider tip: ½ priced pizzas on Monday nights!
Best Place to Hang with Friends (or goats!) - Screaming Goat Yard & Tap
The food is good, the vibe is even better, and their goat yoga is a great time.
Best Ice Cream Spot - Confetti and Cream
This is exactly the kind of place people wish they had growing up. It’s bright, fun, and always packed with families. It’s a regular after-school spot for my crew!
And right next door is The Well Clothing, a great little women’s clothing boutique. They always have new stock in and the staff is so helpful. And don’t miss Elk & Elm on your way back to 281 - they also carry the trendiest styles and are a local favorite.
Best Shopping with Hill Country Charm - Blanco Market Day
This isn’t a store; it’s an experience. Think local boutiques, farmers market, hand-made goods from local artisans... all at the gorgeous & historic Old Blanco County Courthouse Square.
The Texas Hill Country isn’t just a spot on the map... it’s a whole vibe. People are friendly, life is slow, and the scenery is stunning.
Let me tell you about one last favorite of mine... Guadalupe River State Park - Texas Parks & Wildlife... take the kids for a cold dip in the river, camp overnight, or just spend a morning walking the trails. It is the perfect spot to fall in love with the Hill Country.
If you’re new to the Texas Hill Country, start here. 👋
I know I didn’t get them all... what else would you add to the list? 👇
