The Last Saturday Of August ✨

A monumental day on the Salty Coastline -

For most, it’s simply the last Saturday of August.

For those of us in the vacation rental world? It’s the exhale.

It means we made it through another Maine summer — the Saturdays of back-to-back turnovers, ringing phones, early arrivals, late departures, traffic up Route 1, beach sand everywhere, and a whole lot of moving pieces behind the scenes.

It means thousands of beds have been made, countless questions answered, homes inspected, problems solved, vacations saved, memories made, and families welcomed to this little stretch of Maine that we are so lucky to call home.

And now…

Shoulder season is upon us. ✨

The beaches get a little quieter.
The traffic gets a little lighter.
The ocean is still calling.
The restaurants are still buzzing.

And just like that… another Saturday turnover day is in the books. ✨🧺🌊

This morning, homes were full of guests packing up after a week of Maine memories.
Then came the Saturday preparation!

Cleaners cleaning.
Inspectors inspecting.
Maintenance handling the inevitable last-minute surprises.
Our team checking, double-checking, restocking, answering calls and making sure every home was ready for check-in!

And now it’s just after 8PM. 🌙

The cars are unpacked. The beds are claimed. Dinner plans have been made. Vacation mode is officially ON!

Our guests are settled in, our homes are full again, and the Salt & Shine team is taking a moment to appreciate another successful turnover day before we gear up to do it all over again for another busy summer week.

A HUGE thank you to every single person behind the scenes who makes Saturdays happen. It takes a village — and we have a pretty incredible one. ✨
