We're looking for Champions to join our Success After Six staff for the 2026-2027 school year! United Way's Success After Six initiative provides afterschool programming across several local school districts.

As a Champion, you'll inspire and support students from kindergarten to fifth grade with educational instruction, enrichment activities, and leadership.

Congratulations to our Youngstown Community School 8th grade graduates! 🎓

This milestone is especially meaningful for our United Way Afterschool Program family. Several of these students have been part of our program since 2019, and it has been a privilege to watch them learn, grow, and achieve so much over the years.

A special thank you to our Afterschool Coordinator, Mechelle, who handcrafted graduation sashes for each student to help make their day even more memorable. 💙

We are so proud of this incredible group as they take the next step in their educational journey. Best of luck to the students heading to Ursuline, Cardinal Mooney, and Valley Christian—we can't wait to see all that you accomplish!

We had a wonderful time at our Mentorship Luncheon at the B&O Station in Youngstown! 💙

It was an inspiring afternoon focused on connection, growth, and the power of mentorship in our community.

A special thank you to our guest speakers, The Honorable Judge Carla J. Baldwin and Ruth Bowdish, Managing Director at On Demand for sharing their time, insight, and encouragement with everyone in attendance.

Carla is a lifelong Youngstown resident who has always dreamed of becoming an attorney and judge. The rest is history!

Ruth started writing as a young woman and is now a published author!

We’re grateful to all who joined us and continue to support the importance of mentoring the next generation.

We had the privilege of welcoming 30 incredible 7th and 8th grade girls from Boardman and South Range for a day centered around mentorship, confidence, and connection. 💙

Throughout the day, these young leaders heard honest stories, asked thoughtful questions, and learned from women in our community who shared their experiences navigating school, careers, challenges, and growth. From conversations about friendships and self-confidence to leadership and future goals, the room was filled with encouragement, curiosity, and inspiration.

Mentorship matters- and creating spaces where young girls feel seen, supported, and empowered can leave a lasting impact far beyond a single day.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this experience meaningful for the students. The future is bright, and we’re grateful to play a small part in helping these girls see just how much potential they hold. ✨
