As many winter residents are getting ready to travel to their summer destination, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is trying to keep safe what is left behind. Criminals often seek out homes that appear empty, knowing that many people will be away for the summer or traveling to escape the Yuma heat. Protecting your home and vehicle is crucial, and signing up for the Vacation Home Watch with the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is a simple, free, and proactive way to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of a burglary.

If residing in the unincorporated areas of Yuma County, individuals can submit a Vacation Notification Form prior to departing the area for an extended period of time (more than 30 days) for Sheriff’s Office volunteers to conduct periodic home security checks while the homeowners are away.

Once registered, YCSO volunteers will be assigned to the listed home and will perform regular patrols, paying attention to any signs of suspicious activity. NOTE: A new form must be renewed and submitted every year.

The Vacation Notification Forms may be submitted in person, by mail, or via email.
