From St. Croix to Capitol Hill. This week I’m in Washington, D.C. representing the St. Croix Board of Realtors at the 2026 NAR Legislative Meetings as President-Elect of STXBOR.

Yesterday, I met with a staffer from Delegate Stacey Plaskett’s office to advocate for the More Homes on the Market Act, bipartisan legislation that would update a home equity tax exclusion frozen since 1997, while home values have risen 225% nationwide.

The St. Croix story is unique. Many families here have held their properties for decades, building equity across generations. When tax policy discourages those long-term owners from selling, existing home inventory becomes the only realistic path to homeownership for local families and that supply simply isn’t there.
