Sometimes the beauty of St. Croix just knocks me out! It’s not unusual for us to go to this beach and be the only ones there. A person or two may wander by, but often it’s just us. The beach is a place both of us can relax and be totally in the moment. We feel so grateful to live in the beautiful place!

I'm inspired by the beauty I see around me on St Croix. Here's something I've been working on.

A loose painting style is not easy for me, but I think it will help me to relax in my painting, and not be so exact in the shapes and colors. I am learning about layering watercolors, letting them dry in-between before adding the next ones. Watercolor is different in that you start with the lightest value and move to the darkest. I started with just light colors of the pink and green, then added at least 2 other layers. The background color was the last thing painted.
