Was SO lucky to capture an Antillean Crested Hummingbird, sitting on a leaf for a moment, his tongue flicking in and out(!)… These little guys are so fast, and just amazing to watch up close.

St. John is home to two hummingbird species: the Green-throated Carib, the more common variety to see in the villas gardens, and the Antillean Crested - a bit more elusive and always a treat when he shows up. That flashy neon green crest gives him away every time.
