This is a match between two of the best youth football systems on the continent. U23 Uzbekistan boasts the richest tradition in the tournament, while U23 Japan is always competitive.
In the six editions of the AFC U23 Championship held from 2013 to the present, U23 Uzbekistan has reached the final three times, including the 2024 edition. Among these, the Central Asian team won the championship once in 2018.
This achievement of U23 Uzbekistan equals that of Saudi Arabia (three appearances in the final, one championship), surpasses South Korea (two appearances in the final, one championship), and Japan (two appearances in the final, one championship, as of the time of the 2024 final match preparation).
