Most of the time at Roaring River we are using 6x to 8x tippet. Unless the river is up or we are targeting bigger fish during catch and release season then we will go down to 5x tippet!!

Trout tip #2 - Paying attention to your fly's sink rate can improve your catch rate! If the fish are sitting and feeding high in the water column, you'll want to fish a fly with a slower sink rate. If the fish seem to be hugging the bottom or you're fishing faster water, you may want something that sinks faster to get down to the trout quicker!
