One of my clients just moved and wanted a new bedroom design. During our consultation, she showed me some images of beds she's been lusting for but did not know how to create a complete look.

The look she wanted included words like contemporary, neutral, cozy with lots of whites and creams. After the first concept presentation, she said, "I need something more interesting." Her vision is now becoming reality. She also has a list of furniture and accessories to purchase to create her bedroom.

I enjoy getting to know my clients. I uncover more cues on their style from our collaboration. I help them refine their style, and they help me become a better designer.

I just love creating mood boards. A mood board is a useful method to help visualize design concepts. It helps and encourage discussion and collaboration. And it's how a well designed project starts.

Remove clutter and reduce personal items months in advance before you put your house on the market.

Sometimes just the thought of decluttering induces anxiety. Just remember to:

Breathe, and let go of things that no longer serve you. Better things will come your way when you make space for something better.

It's truly amazing how everyone is doing their part to slow the spread of this outbreak. As we practice social distancing, we are saving lives and preventing hospitals from being overburdened.

Now, more than ever, our home is a place of shelter, safety and comfort. It's important that you surround yourself with things that brighten your spirits. Make room for plants and pets which are soothing. And get rid of clutter because it adds to your anxiety.

Our life may have been put on pause, but it has given me a time to be mindful of what's really important: family, neighbors and friends. And thankful for the conveniences of technology and comforts of a house. Sometimes I have to remember how lucky we are.

It's a difficult time for sure. Of course, I have moments of panic and anxiety over the effect this will have on our economy. It's also going to get worse before it gets better.

But when I take a long term road, instead of a short term panic, I find comfort in knowing that this too shall pass.
