Hello Everyone

I have a little question for you…

When you arrive somewhere for a few nights away, what little welcome touches do you like to see.

At Slowhayes Nature Retreat, I love guests arriving to find a few thoughtful goodies waiting for them — but I’d really love to know what you actually enjoy finding when you go away.

Fresh milk in the fridge?
A lovely loaf of bread and butter?
A delicious cake?
Biscuits or something sweet?
Good tea and coffee?
A nice local soft drink?

Or perhaps there’s something completely different that makes you think, “Oh, that’s a lovely touch!”

So, if you could choose your perfect little welcome hamper, what would be in it?

As the summer evenings begin to cool and there’s a little freshness in the mornings, you can really feel that first hint of autumn in the air.

At Slowhayes Nature Retreat, our cosy shepherd’s hut is made for this time of year. Light the woodburner, curl up inside and enjoy a warm, peaceful evening — or wrap up and sit beside the fire pit under the stars.

With a wood burner and radiator to keep you cosy, you can enjoy the beauty of the countryside whatever the autumn weather brings.

Wake up surrounded by nature, enjoy a slow morning with a hot drink, maybe see the alpacas and horses grazing, simply switch off from the outside world.

Our adults-only shepherd’s hut in the New Forest sleeps two and is perfect for a peaceful autumn escape.

Fancy waking up somewhere a little different?

Our cosy New Forest shepherd’s hut is made for peaceful escapes, beautiful sunsets and slowing down for a few days. Tucked away in the countryside near Beaulieu, Lyndhurst and the New Forest coast, it’s an adults-only hideaway for two, with alpacas for neighbours. 🦙🤍 Would this be your kind of getaway?

What’s your favourite food to take on a picnic?

With these lovely warm evenings, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a picnic.

As the evening cools, set out your picnic on the grass, I personally love to make up a salad, some wraps, a few tasty nibbles and a chilled bottle of something nice.

With the ground being so dry at the moment, a picnic is also a much safer alternative to having a BBQ or lighting a fire.

There’s something quite special about eating outside in the evening, breathing in the fresh air, listening to the sounds of the countryside and watching the sun go down.

The festoon lights and a lantern can make a cosy atmosphere too.

Picnics can be as adventurous as you like so what's your favourite food to pack?

There is nothing like an evening dip in the sea and then back home for a hot chocolate. I went to the beach to enjoy a dip and it was so refreshing. It's starting to get a little chilly in the evenings now, perfect time to light the woodburner or sit outside and light the firepit.

Our lovely shepherd's hut is perfect for all year round stays, with a lovely woodburner, electric radiator and a hot shower.

Cosy pubs nearby or stay in and enjoy a hot chocolate.

Anyone else enjoy an evening dip in the sea or wild swimming?
