⭐ Guest Review: A Truly Unforgettable Stay
Some guests leave you five stars.
Some leave you memories.
And then there are the guests who leave you wondering whether your apartment briefly became the set of Mission: Impossible – Domestic Edition.
Our beautiful beachfront apartment comes with a detailed house manual, thoughtfully prepared to make the stay as easy and enjoyable as possible. Unfortunately, despite the instructions being readily available, things somehow escalated into a full-scale crisis — accompanied by phone calls delivered in a rather impressive combination of shouting, rudeness and condescension.
At that point, I had a small feeling that the weekend might not be ending with a glowing review.
And indeed… it did not disappoint.
By checkout, we had a broken toilet seat, a television removed from its wall mounting, film scraped from the sliding door, and a broken door latch.
One has to admire the commitment.
We welcome guests into a beautiful beachfront home with uninterrupted sea views, and we genuinely want people to relax, enjoy themselves and feel at home.
Just not quite that much at home. 😂
There is, of course, a difference between staying somewhere and conducting an unsolicited renovation.
What makes it particularly sad is that these things are not simply “things”. They belong to someone. They cost money to replace, time to repair, and effort to maintain.
So, as a host, you are occasionally left contemplating the great mysteries of life:
Where were you raised?
By whom?
And at what point did “treat other people's property with respect” become an optional extra?
The subsequent correspondence was lengthy, spirited and, judging by the suspiciously polished prose, apparently assisted by everyone's favourite digital wordsmith. 😂
Sadly, even ChatGPT could not repair the toilet seat.
Would we host this group again?
Let's just say that Saltwater Serenade has spectacular ocean views, direct beach access and wonderful guests…
…and we intend to keep the latter part that way.
