Here’s something many first-time buyers don’t realise. 🏡

Transfer duty and transfer costs are not the same thing.

In South Africa, properties valued at R1 210 000 or less currently attract 0% transfer duty. But that does not necessarily mean there are no costs involved in transferring the property into your name.

Buyers may still need to budget for transferring attorney fees, Deeds Office charges and other related expenses. If you are financing the property with a home loan, there may also be a separate set of costs involved in registering the bond.
