My view from my lounge window today, 31 December 2025 and counting.

No more water in the house, but still a lot of moisture. I am so glad for the sun today. Hopefully the loose carpets on the clothesline will dry out today. I now need to assess the damage. The feet of all the kitchen cupboards must be replaced. There is a terrible stenge in two rooms so I think that carpet will have to come out. The old linoleum in my study and the loose carpet, I think, will also need to come out. I will have to tilt over the couches to see the damage there. So, no rest and still lots yo clean up.
The garden is another mess alltogether. The back yard has so many trenches an holes - dug so that water can drain into it - that it is dangerous to walk there.
But we are fine and other people have gone - and is still going - through much worse than us 🙃

Coffee, while I look at my still wet kitchen-dining-living rooms and carpets are drying😉 outside. Water just seeps through the bricks so no amount of vacuming inside helps. All the windows are open so the chilly breeze is inside and outside. The ducks are delighted but not do much the chickens.

After a very hot and dry period during which the bottle brush trees kept back their flowers and the lawn waz quite dead, we have received 110mm of rain in December. The lawn is recovering and the bees are very happy with the bright ted bottle brush flowers.
