🚨 Property transfers just got a new SARS checkpoint - and it could delay your deal if you’re not ready.

From 8 December 2025, SARS is tightening tax compliance on property transactions of R2 million or more.

👉 BOTH buyer and seller must now be registered for income tax
👉 Both must provide valid tax numbers to the conveyancer
👉 No tax number = no transfer duty receipt = delayed registration

This isn’t optional paperwork - it’s now a hard requirement before a property can transfer.

The goal? Better tax compliance and fraud prevention… but in practice it means deals can stall if your tax affairs aren’t in order.

If you’re buying or selling in this price range, make sure your SARS registration is sorted before the conveyancing process begins.

Property transactions already have enough moving parts - don’t let a missing tax number stop the process.
