The South African Reserve Bank has increased interest rates by 0.25%.

Repo Rate: 7.25%
Prime Lending Rate: 10.75%

What does this mean for property?

🏠 Higher bond repayments
Variable-rate home loans will see an increase in monthly repayments.

🔑 Affordability may change
Buyers may need to reassess their budgets and borrowing power.

📊 Pricing matters
Sellers should consider current market conditions when pricing their property.

On a R1 million bond over 20 years at prime, a 0.25% increase can add approximately R170 to your monthly repayment. Your actual increase will depend on your outstanding balance, loan term and interest rate.

A rate increase changes the numbers, but it doesn’t mean putting your property plans on hold. Understand the numbers, get the right advice and make informed decisions.
