Plumstead is a popular suburb in the heart of the Southern Suburbs in Cape Town. It is bordered by Wynberg, Diep River, Southfield and the lower parts of Constantia. Plumstead offers easy access to the M5 & M3 highways.

Plumstead can be broken up into three distinct areas: Plumstead proper, between South Road and Cassino Road; Plumstead Steurhof, between Princess Vlei Road and Cannon Street and Plumstead Timour Hall, above the Main Road bordering Constantia. High schools in the area include Plumstead High School, Norman Henshilwood, and South Peninsula. Junior Schools include Timour Hall, Plumstead Preparatory, and John Graham. There is a private remedial school called Oakley house situated on Main Road opposite Timour Hall Primary School. There are also a number of preschools. These include Happy Days Nursery and Blue Balloon Pre-School. For the bookworms out there, the Plumstead Public Library is situated inside the Village Square.
