Spear has taken transfer of 1 Sportica Crescent on 26 August 2026 and Watergate Mall on 27 August 2026, marking another important step in the growth of our portfolio.

With these acquisitions, Spear’s assets under ownership has now increased to R8.4 billion, while our portfolio has grown to 670,000m².

This milestone reflects the continued strength and strategic growth of Spear’s portfolio, further strengthening our presence across the Western Cape.

Unlocking value with the JSE: Spear reflects on a decade of growth in the public markets

Spear Co-Founder & CEO Quintin Rossi and CFO Christiaan Barnard joined Samuel Mokorosi, Head of Origination & Deals, Capital Markets at the JSE, to reflect on Spear’s journey from a privately owned and operated real estate business to a listed company on the JSE.

Over the past decade, the JSE capital markets have played an instrumental role in Spear’s growth journey, supporting the ex*****on of its focused Western Cape-only strategy and the continued expansion of its portfolio.

A recent milestone in this journey has been Spear’s inclusion in both the All Property Index (ALPI) and SA REIT Index of the JSE.

Since listing in November 2016, Spear has raised more than R5 billion in equity capital through the JSE, helping fund the growth of its portfolio, which is projected to reach a valuation of R8.6 billion across 670,000m² by December 2026.

Ten years on, Spear continues to demonstrate what a focused regional strategy can achieve.

Spear REIT to develop Mambos Storage & Home’s new flagship distribution centre

Spear REIT has entered into an agreement with Mambos Storage & Home to develop a new 7,150m² national distribution centre in Blackheath, Cape Town.

The flagship facility will house Mambos’ head office and supply chain operations, strengthening its operational capacity as the retailer continues to expand its national footprint, currently comprising 22 stores across South Africa.

With development commencing on 1 August 2026 and completion anticipated in mid-2027, the project reflects the continued demand for strategically located industrial property in the Western Cape.

Blackheath’s connectivity to major transport routes and proximity to Cape Town International Airport make it an ideal location for a facility designed to support Mambos’ next phase of growth.

This Mandela Day, the Spear team proudly partnered with the New Heritage Foundation to help combat period poverty at Sinenjongo High School in Marconi Beam.

As Spear continues to grow, we’re reminded that our greatest achievement isn’t simply building a stronger business it’s growing our capacity to make a meaningful difference in communities where support is needed most.

Period poverty is a reality that affects the dignity, confidence and education of far too many young people. Every learner deserves access to the sanitary products they need, without barriers or stigma.

The day was a powerful reminder that when people unite behind a shared purpose, the impact reaches far beyond the workplace.

Growth brings greater responsibility. While we remain focused on operational excellence and long-term strategic ambition, we also recognise that true success is measured by the positive impact we create for our stakeholders, our communities and one another.
