Good news from The Quarter in De Waterkant is that construction is underway again after Covid-19 lockdown restrictions on the construction industry have been lifted. “We moved back on site on 1 June 2020 and are back to full productivity,” reports Project Manager Christiaan Bester. “Our contractor has put strict Covid-19 safety measures in place to ensure that everyone on site is protected and safe.
“The structure was completed at the end of December 2019 and we are on course to complete this magnificent building by the middle of December 2020, with sectional handovers commencing in December and carrying over into early 2021.
“We have recently reinstated the cobbles on Rawbone Lane, keeping the heritage of the area intact. We have also agreed with the local Improvement District to plant an avenue of trees along both sides of De Schmidt Street, greening this lovely little side-street and contributing to the unique urban village feel of De Waterkant.”
