🔥 THE NEXT NATIONAL PROPERTY INVESTOR OF THE YEAR WINNER COULD BE ONE OF THE WOMEN IN THIS ROOM.

This morning, George and I joined SAPIN and Absa Home Loans at the Absa head office in Century City for a powerful day of property investing, networking and deal presentations.

I was especially inspired by the women who stepped forward to present their property deals during the Cape Town round of the 2026 Investor of the Year competition.

They shared the strategies behind their investments, the challenges they had overcome and the results they had worked hard to achieve.

It is exciting to see more women building property portfolios, growing their confidence and taking their place within the SAPIN network — not only here in the Western Cape, but across South Africa.

This is a journey I feel deeply connected to and one we hope to continue supporting through the work we are building with ThriveWise Learning.

The first round of judging will determine who progresses to the next stage, ahead of the national awards taking place in Johannesburg this September.

I came to Vietnam to study property… 🇻🇳

…but after a few days here, I’ve realised something far more important.

Ha Long Bay has been incredible. The scenery, the people and the hospitality have been world-class. ❤️

Tomorrow we’re heading to Da Nang—one of Vietnam’s fastest-growing luxury and short-term rental markets. As investors, I want to understand what’s driving the economy behind the property market, not just the property itself. 📈🏙️

I’ve also been reading Atomic Habits by James Clear, and one idea keeps coming back to me…

Most of us chase outcomes.

🇻🇳📈 Hanoi, Vietnam has been fascinating to experience firsthand.

Like many investors, I’ve heard people talking about Vietnam for years. So while travelling through Hanoi, I wanted to see for myself what all the excitement was about.

What stands out immediately is the energy.

🏗️ Infrastructure investment.
🏢 Business activity.
🌆 Development.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A growing middle class.
🚀 An economy moving forward at speed.

Vietnam has been one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, recording economic growth of around 7–8% in recent years.

And when economies grow, property markets often follow. 📊

In Hanoi alone, residential property values have seen strong growth over the past few years as investment, employment opportunities, urbanisation and demand continue to increase.

But here’s the real lesson…

The best property investors don’t start by analysing properties.

They start by analysing economies.

Because long-term property wealth is rarely created by buying a building alone.

It’s created by identifying the underlying drivers that increase demand over time:

✅ Economic growth
✅ Population growth
✅ Job creation
✅ Infrastructure investment
✅ Business confidence

When these forces align, property values often have a powerful tailwind behind them.

That’s why we spend so much time studying markets, cities and economic trends before making investment decisions.

Property matters.

But understanding why a market is growing often matters even more.
