Additionally, kindly verify that your details are updated on the ESKOM website. For assistance, you can refer to Alfred, the chatbot.

Instructions for Upgrading Your Prepaid Electricity Meter:

To check whether your meter has been upgraded to KRN2 or remains on KRN1, please enter the following code on your prepaid meter’s keypad: 1844 6744 0738 4377 2416. The display will indicate either the number 1 or 2 and may also include alphabetical letters alongside the KRN number.
KRN 1: Indicates that your prepaid meter needs to be upgraded and re-coded.
KRN 2: Indicates that your prepaid meter has already been upgraded and simply needs to be re-coded.

For assistance with re-coding, you can visit the ENGEN Garage in Sunningdale they have been a great help with in assisting owners with the recoding of their prepaid electricity meters.

For owners making use of the services of an alternative provider, such as NUSCO, EU Systems etc. please contact your service provider to ensure that your prepaid electricity meters are upgraded and re-coded.

The SA Reserve Bank announced a drop in interest rates. At their last meeting for 2024, the MPC approved a 0.25% rate cut as expected. The prime lending rate dropped from 11.50% to 11.25%. This amounts to a savings of R171.74p/m when calculating a bond repayment on a R1m bond over a 20-year term.
