Battle of
This battle has major significance in the destiny of the Cape of Good Hope where Battle cries in Dutch, English, French, Gaelic, German, Hungarian and the local dialect that would later be called Afrikaans all participated in the blood bath between the Batavian Republic and the Britannic Majesty’s army. Many of the street names in Blouberg Village would lat
er have significance to the “Blue Mountain” battle. Lt General Sir David Baird was the master of the battlefield once Gen Janssens withdrew and 10 days after the battle commenced on 08 Jan 1806 the Cape of Good Hope became a British Colony. Residents & Area:
We have approx. 500 residents living in the Bloubergstrand area, three pockets include blbg Village, The Ridge and Extention 1 which furthermore comprising of 3 Sectional Title Complexes (Blue Waters, Sand ‘n See; Blouberg Heights) & 5 gated communities (Bayview, White Waters, Mont Bleu, Mont Mare & Nautilus). Bustling guesthouses and the Blue Peter hotel make up for additional visitors to the area with us having 4 dining venues within the village and a short hop takes you on to Eden on the Bay. Many tourists also visit the area for its flora and fauna but true to the Cape South Easter we have become a world renowned surfing mecca. Other recreational activates include the Tennis Association, Blouberg Library, communal parks and soon to have a cricket pitch. Once mainly a white Afrikaans rugby associated suburb it still today has its weekly Sunday service at the NG Kerk. But residents now are a vast blend of English, Afrikaans and Europeans owning property within Blouberg. Property:
Land is running scarce with only 9 vacant stands in true Blouberg and a few stands right of Moolman Rd pocket (really considered big bay) whilst the housing market has a continuous wave of either many properties selling or many choosing to renovate the old gems into magnificent residences as residents know the value of living in the “Clifton of Blaauwberg”. We at REMAX boast the highest sales turnover for rand and units for the last four years and in the same period hold the two highest gross sales price with a year on year 60-70% market share with our only competition being the Pam Golding Properties brand, but that is still not a good enough achievement knowing that two high end property sales grossed R 16,5 in 2007 and R 19mil in 2008 being achieved.
