SA People News: “South Africa is hurtling towards a major demographic transition. Driven by declining fertility rates and improved life expectancy, the proportion of persons aged 60 and older is projected to rise sharply from 10.5% in 2025 to 16.2% of the national population by 2050.”

South Africa’s older population is projected to double by 2050, and this shift will stretch the Old Age Grant and place pressure on working-age citizens.
